5.2 magnitude quake hits off southern Mindanao

A 5.2 magnitude earthquake struck off southern Mindanao at 3:44 p.m. Tuesday, the US Geological Survey said.

There were no immediate reports of damage or injury.

The undersea quake was located 170 kilometers east-southeast of General Santos City at a depth of 56 kilometers.

The Philippines sits on the Pacific “Ring of Fire” where continental plates collide causing frequent seismic and volcanic activity.(INQ.net)
