KORONADAL CITY, Philippines - Another "Barangay Bagsakan" center was launched in the village of San Isidro in Kidapawan City, North Cotabato province, the third of its kind to operate in Central Mindanao region.
Abusama M. Alid, Department of Agriculture regional director, said the facility will allow farmers to trade their crops on a retail or wholesale basis.
The Barangay Bagsakan is a project of the Agriculture department under the "Accelerated Hunger Mitigation" program.
The department’s regional office earlier established bagsakan centers in the towns of Esperanza in Sultan Kudarat province and M’lang in North Cotabato province.
Baidido T. Samama, chief of the agribusiness and marketing assistance Service of the regional agriculture office, said they target to put up at least 30 barangay bagsakan centers across the region. — BusinessWorld
