ZAMBOANGA CITY, Philippines - Explosive ordnance demolition personnel of the city police office recovered Friday morning two improvised explosive devices (IEDs) from a cargo truck.
Initial police report said that one of the IEDs consist of ammonium nitrate powder packed in a one-liter bottle and the second in an 800-mililiter bottle of soft drinks.
The police reported that the IEDs known as Ammonium Nitrate Fuel Oil (ANFO) have wires connected to dry cell batteries of 1.5 volts each, blasting cap and fuse.
Authorities said the explosive devices were placed in one of the hauler trucks contracted by a soda firm that has a bottling plant.
Truck helpers discovered the explosives when they stopped at the garage area in the village of Mercedes, 14 kilometers northeast of Zamboanga City.
The soft drinks were to be delivered in provinces as far as Lanao.
The police are conducting a thorough investigation to determine who planted the IEDs. - (Source: Sun.Star Zamboanga)
